Timothy Sykes Surprises Harlem Kids

Millionaire stock trader turned Instagram celebrity Timothy Sykes recently surprised a group of children in Harlem when he and his film crew shocked them with a $25,000 donation for youth mentorship.

The children were part of an organization called Friends of the Children NY, an early-intervention program in New York City that provides full-time one-on-one mentors for the city’s most vulnerable youth. The mentors each child receives follows them through all aspects of their lives from kindergarten through to high school graduation.

Sykes has become known for having given away more than $4M (and counting) of his personal fortune through his charity community, Karmagawa, and he documents it all on his Instagram. He also recently donated $1.5M to Pencils of Promise to fund the construction of 20+ new schools in Asia, Africa and South America. His foundation has pledged to ultimately build 1,000 schools.

The notorious social media star originally became famous as a stock trader who made his first million dollars in college using just $12,415 in Bar Mitzvah money. He has now turned that into over $4.9 Million in trading profits and teaches his trading strategy to others. His education company has created multiple millionaire students from scratch.

Friends of the Children NY is an early intervention mentorship program dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through salaried, professional mentoring. They select the highest-risk children from Harlem and the South Bronx and commit to working with those children from kindergarten to graduation. 12 years, no matter what.
