No matter how old you are, or how successful you are, most people will find that at one point or another in their lives they start to feel lost. This is a completely normal feeling and one that most people face from time-to-time. Feeling lost is normal and it is not a setback. What is most important to remember when you feel lost is how you handle it and how you react to the situation at hand. With this in mind, you need to make sure that you know who to call and that you call the right person to help you through it. How you overcome this feeling or feeling lost is what is most important. Here are some of the people that you should consider calling whenever you are starting to feel lost.

Your Mentor

If you have a special mentor in your life who has always guided you, this is one of the people that you need to call. You have relied on this mentor before to help you grow as a person and learn new skills along your journey. They have a great deal of insight into who you are and how you got to this point in your life. This insight can also help you learn how to overcome a feeling of being lost. If there is anyone who knows how to point you in the right direction professionally, it is someone who has done it before. Give your mentor a call, explain the situation to them and you may be surprised to find that they can still mentor you and leave you in the right direction just as they have before.

Teachers That Had a Big Impact on You

Teachers are valuable resources for a number of reasons. If you are feeling lost, consider calling an old teach that had an impact on you. They were once able to teach you and form you into the person you are today and they were able to reach you on a very personal level. Chances are, they will be able to do it again. Teachers have a unique insight into who you were as a child and what it took to get you to where you are today and they can use that insight again to help you overcome your feeling of being lost.

A Real Friend that Listens

Sometimes friends are the best people to help you, even if they don’t understand professionally what it is that you are going through. While professional allies will be able to talk to you based on what they know about your careers, friends will be able to talk to you based on what they know about you and who you are as a person. Consider reaching out to your closest friends, just make sure they are someone who you truly believe has your best interest at heart. If you tell them about your situation and let them know that you feel lost, you may be surprised to find what they have observed from being around you and what advice they have. Many times the people who are around us most notice more about where we are in life and where we are going than we even can.
